Background

The construction sector is currently facing the challenge of developing sustainable and multifunctional solutions that enhance energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and occupant safety. In this context, the Ecotunnel project emerges as an innovative response to the needs of industrial buildings by integrating natural lighting, ventilation, and smoke extraction functions into a single device.

This disruptive approach aims to overcome the limitations of conventional solutions by optimizing roof space utilization and minimizing the need for multiple roof penetrations. Through the application of Ecodesign principles, intelligent automation and renewable energy-based autonomy, Ecotunnel seeks to establish itself as a benchmark in the development of integrated and sustainable systems for the construction industry.

Main objectives

The primary objective of the Ecotunnel project is to develop an intelligent and sustainable device for installation on industrial building roofs, efficiently and automatically integrating natural lighting, ventilation and smoke extraction functions.

This multifunctional system will be developed based on Ecodesign strategies, intelligent control and energy autonomy, ensuring high standards of thermal, acoustic, hygrothermal and fire safety performance. The project also aims to experimentally validate and demonstrate the Ecotunnel in a real-world environment, paving the way for its introduction to both national and international markets.

The solution is intended for designers, engineers, installers and decision-makers within the industrial sector, contributing to the modernization and sustainability of the built environment.

Project activities and expected results

The Ecotunnel project will run for a total duration of 36 months and is structured around a work plan comprising six main activities, divided into specific tasks of a sequential and/or complementary nature.

The main project activities are:

A1. Preliminary studies and knowledge consolidation

A2. Development of the multifunctional Ecotunnel

A3. Development of the intelligent control system

A4. Prototyping and performance validation

A5. Promotion and dissemination of results

A6. Project management
